Our Final Cast

    Hey blog how you been! This week has been very, extremely, all the heightened degree adverbs you can think of, busy. I'm involved in drama and chorus at my school, and for almost every day this week there's something going on, including the theatre show we are putting on: Chicago! 

    Anyways, regarding our film opening, we have who are playing our characters! Here is the process of how we went about it.

Define our Characters

    Before finding our cast, we wanted to make sure we had our main group of characters that would appear in the opening defined so that not only could we pick people who could represent/ demonstrate those qualities well, but also for their own sake to get to know the character more. As shown here in a past blog post, I ran through name meanings and some information about the main characters, but not too in depth. Isabel and I decided to share a document and reflect on our characters further, as well as some costume choices that reflect personality.

    Once we did that (shown below along with the completed finding of the cast), we began to think of our friends who have younger siblings and who we could get to be in our cast. Here are our final decisions on our CASTTTT:

Cast/ Character Descriptions:

• Doran  

    - Doran is age 17 in the present time of our opening (not old file footage). He will be played by Sebastian Lotero. Doran is the first experiment which makes him number one. He is the guinea pig and learns to outsmart the system to survive and to escape. He eventually does escape, but he forgets all of this when he is hurt and gets amnesia. He has a kind heart and a caring soul that came from his father. He also has resilience and strength he doesn’t know he has yet. A character similar to him is Percy Jackson because he also did not know about his father, and is the leader that knows the least about everything (the system, etc... compared to his siblings).

    Wardrobe: In the first scene he will wear a white shirt because only the upper part of his body is shown and because white symbolizes innocence and purity, connected to his obliviousness towards his "forgotten" past. During the office scene he will wear a white dress up shirt, very plain, and very basic because his adopted family cannot afford something more expensive. 

  

• Miriam

    - Miriam is age 16 in the office (present time) and 10 in the files (past). She will be played by Isabella Di Lauro (younger version) and Victoria Di Lauro (older version). Miriam is the second experiment and unlike Doran, she doesn't escape. Instead, she is confined even more than Doran was and has rougher experiments on her because after Doran escaped, the company wanted to make sure she wouldn't either. She's angry at the world and is aggressive, but overly protective of her family and the people she cares about. To us, she is like Annabeth in Percy Jackson because she should be recognized as the real leader, but knows that Doran has to be the leader.

    Wardrobe: In the files, she will wear white to illustrate her purity before being tested on/ to show how individuality isn't prioritized in the secret company and how they're seen mainly for their benefit to the company. Later in the office scene, she will wear a black coat with a maroon shirt underneath. Her darker color scheme represents her strength, determination, and impact. The dark red represents her rebelliousness and bold personality.

• Sage and Salvia

    - Sage and Salvia are twins that only appear in the files, being age 9. They will be played by Andrea Bolanos. They are the third and fourth experiments that are wise and have an interconnected relationship (being twins). They don't appear in the office scene, as they're soon to be admitted into working at the office. (As described in my character outline blog post, their names symbolize characteristics that connect to each other, such as Salvia's possible future saving/ sacrifice for her twin sister.)

    Wardrobe: Their wardrobe is just white again, for the same reasons as the others in the files scene (lack of individuality, more innocence...)

• Fidelia

    -Fidelia is age 14 in the office and age 8 in the files. She will be played by Noah Oshins (younger version) and Ayden Oshins (older version). Fidelia is immensely loyal to all her older siblings because she is the youngest, as well as most easily manipulated due to her young age, by the social experiment company. She's also the comedic relief (as relieving as one can be in this type of society) because she's always trying to get the approval of her siblings. She needs to be protected out of all of the siblings the most.

    Wardrobe: In the files just like her siblings, she will also wear white. In the office, she will wear blue under her white coat, because blue represents loyalty and faith and white represents youthfulness and purity.
